Period
2001 to 2009
The project goal of NRW Auto was to enable companies to keep their presentation on the state portal up-to-date themselves via the online administration area. The data obtained in this way could be transferred on-demand to the VIA Editor on the ministry official’s computer, and served as the basis for the production of CD-ROMs for location marketing at trade fairs and events.
In 2002, the VDA made the VDA product key available to the participants of NRW Auto for classification purposes. The portal was further developed and new services (company profile, VIA projects, expert forum) were created.
In 2003, NRW Auto was docked with other VDA services (Auto World, VDA Cooperation Exchange). Universities were integrated into the database alongside companies. New services were developed and integrated (Service Center, competence fields, download area for participants).
In 2004, interfaces were expanded, for example to the external representation of the subset “Bergisches Städtedreieck” (Remscheid, Solingen, Wuppertal) in cooperation with kompetenzhoch3 , to Automotive Rheinland (an initiative of the IHK-Düsseldorf) and to VDA services.
In 2005, NRW-Auto became a GbR and became a self-supporting company. Ergo: Relaunch with a new look and development of new services (trade fairs, seminars, workshops, competence atlas, etc.).
2008 we developed a SOAP interface for automotiveNET.eu in cooperation with the Dutch “Automotive Technology Centre” and Source Lounge.
In 2009, the NRW state government discontinued the NRW-Auto project in favour of AutoCluster.NRW.
